I love love LOVE a good perfume. I know that there are some scents out there that are made with chemical ingredients that are bad for you, and I know some people think of perfume as being in it of itself "artificial," but I really love smelling good, and some scents just lift my mood and make me happy. Which is why, on my quest to live a more natural and vegan-friendly life, I am overjoyed to find Pacifica Perfume, perfumes that are made WITHOUT animal testing, animal bi-products, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, propylene glycol, benzene, GMOs, mineral oil, peanut oil and triclosan. Pacifica perfumes are vegan and cruelty free and smell amazing!
The trick is to find the scent that works the best with your own body chemistry. These can be found at Whole Foods, which is where I sampled a few to find the scent that suited me best, knowing I could always order them online later. My two favorites are Tahitian Gardenia and Mediterranean Fig. In the past, I have always worn Estee Lauder's "Spellbound," which I have heard is also vegan, although I am sure it has more of a chemical base that Pacifica's fragrances. While not a perfect match, a mixture of these two scents have for me come the closest to creating the same scent sensation that I get from Spellbound.
If you are looking for something fragrant, reasonably priced, and made from a complimentary blend of fragrance and essential oils, Lauren from DressGreen also has a line of fragrances that are quite lovely. (If you happen to live in Bellingham, you can try a tester out at Whimsey, since they usually carry Dress Green products in the store). My favorite is the "White Tea and Ginger" which is a blend of bergamot, lemon, and daylilies.
So if you are like me and you like a little something extra to keep your nose happy, check out some of these vegan-friendly fragrances, and let me know which one ends up being your favorite!
I LOVE Pacifica perfume! It smells wonderful :)
